Brisbane - Archerfield Go Cart track

SEQ Mini Moto club is having a demo day at the cart track at archerfield this sunday!!!

just demo at this stage but I've spoken to the guys and they want to make it a fortnightly thing, so I guess the more people that show up, the better a chance it has of going ahead!!

kicks off this sunday 20th at around lunchtime!!

(not sure of the exact address but it's right next to the speedway!!)

am speaking to the guys at the club tomorrow, will update with more details then!!

ok a little more info:

day starts at 10:00am (the guys will be there from around 8 to set the track up - feel free to come along to lend a hand as this will get us going sooner and you get a chance to view the track and meet everyone)

it at the old go cart track in colebard st west archerfield (next to the speedway)

bring your bike (of course), plenty of fuel, chair, umbrella (there isn't too much shade) and food and drinks (there is apparently going to be a bbq but am unsure of the numbers they are catering for so its better to be safe than sorry)

should be finishing up around 4-5ish so looks like it'll be a big day.

i'll see you all there hopefully (i've got a red bike, blue and white KBC lid and a blue, black and white agv sport leather jacket so come up and say g'day!!)

so who went today?

I was there and decided that my bike is bloody slow

was still heaps of fun but, I found that I was just as good as some of the faster races through the tight corners, but once we got on the straight they blew me away

best thing was I met a few new people and gained some good advice on mods to do to the bike  (got the number of a brissie guy that'll rebuild my carby and build me a pipe for bugger all - and his bike flew)

I was also impressed with the turnout - at least 20 bikes!!! seems like a close knit bunch and everyone was keen to lend a hand and give advice where needed.

all going well the mods to my bike will be getting done this week, so next time hopefully i'll be able to keep up!!

gillberg and co were there from about 1130 or so i guess, i was out on a ride this morning, didnt get there till 2 pm
met darren and dave and spoke for a bit about the format and the different tracks they want to race at
big problem i see with there idea, not a lot of room at archerfield for competitors and spectators at this stage
track looks like fun
and despite the way parklands is run, i dont see to many ppl who will want to go to helidon( a registered AKA track though mind you ) to race
and the other thing, no way can i see parklands wanting to only host a race meet 1 out of 4 each month while for 3 weeks it gets raced at different venues, imagine all the money they will miss out on, not like the place is running at a loss , and the way its going, they are going to be making more and more money, costing moreand getting less in return for the competitor, plus all the spectators down there, it was mad last night, shitload of ppl, they would have cleaned up and be laughing all the way to the bank know that " this is the only place to race "

also saw kurt at archerfield , aparrently he reckons the track was awesome so we will have to wait n see i `spose

yeah the track was great!!!! albeit a little slippery - I need stickyer tyres

sorry I missed ya bung, we were there till almlost two but were getting too burnt and needed to go for a feed and duck to supercheap for some new bolts  (wheel nut rattlled loose and I couldn't find the bastard  )

which bike is kurt? there were two fella in red and white leathers (one a newish set the other older and scuffed) who were blooby quick. then a fella in black with clear body armour (i managed to pass him a couple of times under brakes but he always nailed me powering away in the straight  )

then there was an old fella named bob who was a mad basterd!!!! his bikes bloody flew

all in all I loved the standard of riding. excluding the two guys in red there was no onw I saw who seemed unbeatable - it's just a matter of getting a bike thats up to par

I hope it takes off there at archerfield as it's only 5 mins drive from my house but would be keen to journey to other tracks as long as they're not too far away

ps - I think archerfield has potential for a better setup - I don't know if you ever raced karts there - but backing on to the speedway where we were using as pit lane was a shed with amenities and a large covered area that would be perfect
