Putting engine back together..

Hey.
After a long time of working on other projects im going to get ttarted on putting my pocketbike back together.. a few questions though.

1) I took my cylinder off to paint it and now i cant put it back on. Any tips on how to squeeze the cylinder rings in to put the cylinder back on?

2) i got ne gaskets so can i put them straight on? do i have to put oil or anythin on them first? does it matter what way there facing up?

3) the engine has been siting opened up where sum dust and dirt is sure to have gotten in how can i clean it out? Could i just tip some petrol through the motor while its not running? Thanks..

1. Just align the ring on the piston as spot on as you can to the pin thing![use your hands]
2. Great, make sure the surface your putting them on is clean, free of grease, oil etc. You dont have to put anything on the gaskets, especially NOT OIL!! Also i dont think it matters which way their facing!
3. UMM, Get some wd-40 and clean it right out! When youve finished, clean the surfaces, with methalated spirits or something, to make sure your gaskets seal and so on!

You will notice that the open ends of the piston ring are not squared, and that they have a little notch on both ends..

Look closely at the piston were the ring sits, you will see that it has a little notch in the groove..

The piston ring ends MUST line up with the notch in the piston groove...

And yea, just wash it in petrol to clean it ...

Don't buy another motor ...

Piston rings cost next to nothing ...

I'll get pics up if you want to see what i'm talking about ...
