I just got my 2 stroke 49cc pocket bike last month, and am just starting off doing upgrades and such.
At the moment, my first preference, would be to add an electric starter, and headlights to my bike, along with a small 12v battery (probably 150cca).
Anyone got sugestions on what setup, pieces, etc would be best?

what, your still here... did you take an extra bowl of stupid or something this morning..?
Just an extra note: Price isn't that big of an option to me, as I work at repco, and can get parts ordered in for wholesale price.
Any out of the box performance tweaks would be welcome to... we could make this a start from scratch topic... and work up to a beast. :-D

Tell us, why would you buy a perfectly good pocket bike and then try to bastardise it with lights,,electric start and a battery. Ya carnt ride these bikes on the road so why bother. Can't you pull a cord to start the bike.
There are Midi bikes for sale which have all that crap on them as standard.
Spend your hard earned money on some real mods that make it go fast. Your mods will only slow the poor thing down.
well okay, what parts would you recomend starting off with first?
From the little experiance that i have, the way i would go would be:
Carby - Replace with something half decent
Reeds - Replace with fibreglass reeds.
Exauhst - Fit a Power pipe to replace original
- And that is about as far as i will go without good advice on how to do any more.
Also, as i am led to believe that pocket bikes and scooters are not allowed on road without a compliance plate, i know most people are going to say this is practically impossible, but what would be the "best chance" way of getting compliance plates... eg. Would you have to know someone inside the transport system, or get a mechanic to approve some modifications to make it more compliant?
Please don't just bag me because im asking, i have looked it up and i do know about the restrictions... i just want to see if anyone else really wants to be able to ride thier pocket bike on the road... and maybe there is another easier way we can get this to happen.

Hey Krusher _00.
The first thing you should do in my opinion is work out your budget on upgrades. Upgrades can get away from you. B4 you realise you've spent $1000 and still don't have a bike that goes FAST.
Please don't go for any of those BLING, BLING add ons. They are a waste of money.
Go visit a couple of sites such as http://www.carterraceengines.com/ http://www.ozscoot.com.au/
You can PM them direct from this site.
PM RD Racing. He is from Sunshine coast.
Try reading passed posts from performance tips forum.
As far as finding a way to get a compliance plate, forget it. Qld Gov and probably every other state , has got the transport act rapped up when it comes to these mighty machines. Just stick to the track and save money from fines on your new found habit.
You are quite welcome to come with us all to Bundy on 6/7 August for a fun filled weekend. No experience needed and you will learn heaps. Garanteed. check out the link for the weekend. http://pocket-bike-racing.com.au/for...opic.php?t=719
Cheers and hope to see you on the Bundy trip.
Krusher_00, why would you want to ride a pocket bike on the road??!!! I ride a road bike and people don't see me on a daily basis. Ride a pocket bike with other idiots in cars that can't even see you over their bonnet??? Hope you like hospital food! Spend ya $$ on go-fast bits and hit the track mate, you'll live alot longer! 8)

you seem to know everything, but did you know this: in vic under certain rules you're allowed to ride pocket bikes on roads.
hey krusher_00,
i'm sure they'll have a similar thing in QLD, just check ur "QLD roads" website carefully.
I've got an electric start r1 with the works being installed on it soon (see my avatar) and acording to the vic roads website the only things that my bike doesn't have that are required are side mirrors and a num. plate light. + with this special permit you don't need one of those thousand dollar certificates of roadworthiness
But with your type of bike you'd have to be commited to mod that into a full works bike. Let me know what you decide in the end.
Oh, and also check out the special permit info for vic roads here:
