Head Kit vs Cylinder Upgrade Kit

Hi

Im just wondering what would be best for my CAG. I hear that when installing a Head Kit you need to measure the squish and i hear this can be complicated. Due you need to measure the squish with just a normal Cylinder Upgrade Kit?

Also, what would be the expected power gains from a Head Kit vs a Cylinder Upgrade Kit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

RD RACING is an unknown quantity at this point
the 2 piece head kit if set correctly will produce more power than the single piece head kit. the cheaper 2 piece kits on the market do require some cylinder machining so the needed squish can be set to the desired 0.05mm clearance. setting squish area is quite simple as long as you have some 1mm rosin cored soft solder and a set of vernier calipers, the proceedure is to insert a piece of L shaped solder into the sparkplug hole making sure this solder goes to the cylinders wall then turn the engine over by hand to tdc and past tdc [ top dead center ] you then remove this solder and measure the squashed section, some head kits i have worked on have come ready to fit with a squish area of 3mm which a non reading is taken if using 1mm solder if you know what i mean.
the single piece head kit is very simple to install and maintain plus power is good when modified. the cost difference is $80 to $300 for the 2 piece kit and $50 to $100 for the single piece head kit. ozminimotos have some good 2 piece head kits available and rd racing has some good single piece head kits from stock to highly modified.
