| this sounds like its only a reed problem as you mentioned the engine runs with the stock tin reeds. i advise you to remove the reed block then have a close look at the reed mating surface, this is where the reed contacts the reed plate, if your plate has the 2 black rubber seals take them out and also place this plate on a flat board with wet and dry sandpaper, hold the plate then lightly sand the face of this plate so all is free of humps ect, the stock plate with the rubber inserts can be troublesome as these inserts can come out of position and cause a non seal to 1 or both reed halves. when you re fit the reeds to the plate, hold this up to light and check for gaps between the 2 plate halves [ or windows ] a slight gap is ok as piston blow down will close the reed but if the gap is to large there wont be any close off. |
