Coil question.

My cag cuts out top end. I've been told it is the rev limiter cutting in. The motor has been modded by JT and I'm running a stock watercooled carby with the standard jetting. If it is the coil what can be done to fix the problem. I have heard of fellas doing a bit of experimtation with coils to get the bike revving a bit harder.

The plug that came with it is an NHSP LD L71. I have ADA block and reeds and the coil is spaced the same as I do to my watercooled. A rinki dink business card provides a great gap clearence . I have heard that a coil from a 39cc is pretty good. I don't think it would be running out of fuel as the jetting probably is a bit on the rich side. It has great bottom and mid and revs out very nice but then it cuts out. If I back it off a bit then it picks up, revs out then cuts. Have checked the plug and it is a good colour. I am happy with the output and don't feel there is a need to space the reeds more than the ADA block. It is just not very rider friendly at the moment. Any help appreciated

it is most possible that your engine doesn,t want to rev any higher as it is peaking to its max rpms, to get more rpms from your engine the duration of the exhaust port must be advanced, say if your engine that has had work done to it, has its exhaust duration set at lets say 170 deg, to get more rpms you must open up this duration to atleast 176 deg, also your pipe must work with this setting, maybe your pipe is coming on to early as well.

Thanks RD that is very true. I am running a fat boy pipe. I'm also going to gear it down a bit. I'll check all that you have mentioned. The cag is certianly alot harder to get right than my B1. Thanks for your help and I will let you know how I fare. Cheers
