makes sense... castings are likely to have at least small air holes in the middle (bad if air expands when hot)

you can get a rocket key from ebay ozminimoto or i have a few here
just use a old photo licence or some a4 paper folded a few times to gap the coil i just set it so its as close as possible without scraping on the magneto (flywheel)

[not totally round]
Can anyone suggest where I can get a balancer? I have been looking around but can't find one.

Thanks,

Thanks Matty

I assume these are the rigs with a couple of bearing wheels at either end of a jig which you sit a shaft into? I would have to make up a shaft to mount the flywheel to for this to work I would expect?

Cheers again

Talking jetting delorto replica carb with fat boy pipe

Can any one give me a tip on what jet size to use on a 49 cc cag with a fatboy pipe. The carb comes with 6 spare jets. I have not got them yet still in transit. Will these 2 mods help without any other mods at this point. Im at the pointy end of the field would like to get to front of other cags?? HAHA dont we all

It will prolly run like crap on the standard 49cc engine mate, from experience i tried the dellorto and fatboy on my stock motor a while back and it was a dog and was flooding bad,had better performance with the stock carb and exhaust,if you still wana persist with it id try to jet it down to around.68 or .70 and youd have to fit a larger rear sprocket ie 6-72 or 6-74 gearing to get some of your low down power back that the fatboy pipe robs you of

Hi JUDONFIRE,

I ran this setup on my bike before I got a headkit and it worked fine. You'll lose some bottom end so I hope you're not too heavy.

If you get the right size jet you'll be stoked with the extra top end your engine will make. I'd go a 70 to 75 size jet. Start with the 75 (it's better to run it too rich than too lean!) and if it bogs down and doesn't like to idle try the 70.

Check the spark plug after running the engine for 5 minutes. If the plug is black and wet it's too rich (try a smaller jet size) if it's white and dry it's too lean (try a larger jet). If your jet kit only comes in increments of .05 and you have to compromise a little, run it a bit too rich. You'll make up for some lost bottom end and protect your engine better.

There are threads on this site which show you how to mod your stock head and piston if you're handy with the tools. If not, headkits are only $69 on ozminimoto.com.au and work a treat.

Be patient and you'll be stoked.
