Hi all, i am a newbie to the game..Just wanna know wot simple mods i can do to my bike, it one of the new Lammas bikes. Is it worth/possible to mod these bike for any decent gains in performance? Any info is greatly appreciated..
if its the same bike that is in your sig then it is a CAG
they are good bikes to start off with because they are so easy to mod, alot of people have them, they are cheap and parts are so easy to come by.
they can be easily modified but it is probably better to save up that money and buy a second hand watercooled bike. use your cag to get used to the sport and learn a bit about engines, then get yourself a watercooled.

pretty much anything u do to that, will make an improvement to it. whether its worth doing, depends on how much time and how far u wish to go with the sport. if you just want to bash around carparks and side streets with mates then go for it and do it up, but if u wish to start racing and getting into it a bit more then leave it for a bit and think about goin watercooled.
easy cheaps mods, carbon or fiber glass reeds, lightened flywheel, lightened clutch, replica carby
more $$$ mods, head kit, full circle crank, exhaust,
hope this helps

Guys, the kid is asking "how do I modify THIS bike?", not "should I save my money and buy a water-cooled bike?" While I agree that W/C's are better in the long run, they're also more expensive. He wants to mod the bike he has NOW.
Dr, some of the usual upgrades that are cheap and easy to do to your Cag are:
-Better carburetor - DellOrtos are pretty popular
-Ported stock carburetor: this is where you drill out the mouth of the carb a little to receive more air.
-Rejetting: putting a larger main jet in your carburetor for more fuel flow
-Better air cleaner - high-performance air cleaner for increased air flow (goes with the rejet)
-Better reeds: fierglass or composite reeds are better than the tin reeds in your bike now, as they are stiffer and will not "flutter" at top speed as much as the stock ones do.
-Gearing: a good choice for gears would be 7/68 for overall performance. 7th on the front gear (pinion), 68th on the rear gear (sprocket)
-Lightened flywheel: take a pair of visegrip pliers, and break off every other fin on your flywheel, then use a dremel to smooth down the broken stubs. There are eighteen fins on the flywheel - by doing this, you will reduce it to 9. Higher RPMs, but a slightly longer time to get there.
-One piston ring: if you are mechanically apt, take off the cylinder head, and remove the bottom ring from your piston. This will reduce heat and result in higher RPMs. When the single ring breaks, now you have a spare .....
Hope all this help, enjoy your ride ....

yeah i understand what he is saying, but if hes new to the game he should be told all of his options.
in my opinion, cags are a money pit. but it all depends on your personal preferance and what class you want to race in. if your just a basher and all of your mates have cags then i would stay with the cag, because then you can all be competitive and share knowlede and have fun together.
i prefer the watercooled bikes, because of the power they put out, how they handle and the parts service.
you can pick up second hand watercooled's for very cheap. around $200-$300. there are alot of parts for them and they are alot of fun to modify, but then again, so are cags.
by the time you buy a cag and completely overhaul it, you could have bought a watercooled bike and modded it also. a fully modified cag will probably still get beaten by a stock watercooled bike.
i would be spewing if i bought something and spent alot of money on it, then found out i could have gotten something faster for cheaper.
if you want to modify your cag, i would do the following:
-14/14 dellorto replica carby
-3d ported head kit with full circle crank
-carbon fibre or fiberglass reeds depending on track and what you want out of the bike (fiberglass is better for bottom end and carbon fiber is better for top end)
-lightened flywheel
-timing key
-gear the bike appropriately
-ngk spark plug
-jetpro or fatboy pipe
then once you have done that, you can grab some good tyres.
the good thing about cags is that they are so cheap, so you can try different things with the engine to see what happens, then you can take that knowledge into other bikes.
if it were me i would buy a watercooled, but that all comes down to personal preferance and why you got into the sport.
cheers

read my reply properly then. i never once said he should save his money for a watercooled. i gave him my opinion on doing up his cag and gav him things to do.

Hey, thanx for the excellent info guys, will definately be trying some of these mods. I basically just wanna ease my way into knowing how to mod these bikes properly, once i can do that i will look at progressing to a watercooled bike if funds allow for it. Just wanna familiarise myself with the layout and the way these bikes run... Thanx again guys!
yeah im fairly new to it all and i have fully worked my cag as far as im willing to go on it anyways and i think its prepared me for more challenging work on a better bike. so i say work ur cag and it will be good to make mistakes on the cheaper cag rather than on an expensive watercooled bike.
now looking to get a watercooled bike. have just bought a new 1 but its going back.

not happy with the bike , it was the 13w elite rep wasnt it ??
what was the problem with it if you dont mind me asking
I like the 13w, wrs replicas because they are light weight with plenty of race potential for a competitive Chinese bike in my opinion, & they are getting harder to get hold of
if you consider what it will cost to buy or build up a new water cooled blata replica engine from scratch then they are a good cheap water cooled bike
a new stock blata replica engine alone will be around $200-250+ to build or buy & thats without any other parts like radiator hoses, pipe etc. origami rep frames are cheap & easy to get hold of once the elite 13 frame is past its use by date its just a matter of swapping out your other parts
not defending the low quality or the seller thats just the way i look at it anyhow
