fatboy pipe????

hey ive just installed the fatboy pipe on my cag that i bought from sykko x2.
i took it out for a run and it doesnt hav the pick up and go like it did before with the stock pipe. the only other mod is carbon reeds.
the bike doesnt reach peak rpms and doesnt take off like it did when i had just put the reeds in. im going to pull the engine out and check the reeds but they r brand new and hav only had 5 mins worth or running through them so im guessing its not them. the bike is lacking down low and wont peak out. take s along time to get to top speed and is no where near as quick off the line as it was with the stock pipe.
its like the pipe is too big and the engine is having trouble breathing.

is it because its basically a stock engine???
wat else could it possibly be????

i did also change the throttle but not the cable so i cant see that being the problem.
not impressed with the fatboy so far....

Thats a bit strange... the fatboy should atleast rev out! maybe you're motor is now running a lil rich.... If the motor and carby is running fine, the fatboy pipe will be succesful... you might just need a couple extra teeth to get that down low back...

I had the same problem recently until i put a new 14/14 rep on my std. I went from 9300rpms to 11800 with the carby change....

it was blowing a heap of smoke today with the fatboy and normally it doesnt blow as much. maybe it is running rich.
how do i lean it out?

it also maybe the new throttle that came with the frame and forks from sykko x2. although its a descent throttle tho and it shouldnt be it as i played around with it today and it really didnt do much.

if you're using a std carby i believe you raise the needle???? im not completely sure... (its late, im a lil drunk and i havent used the std carby in ages!) just keep an eye on your plug and listen to the motor rev out and you should be able to get an idea wether itys running lean or rich.... and rich works very poo with a fatboy...

or if you have a del rep just go smaller!! just not to dry...

i've seen a std cag work extremely well with the fatboy and std carby better then what ive seen the fatboy run with the 14/4 rep... so i'd keep toying with your jets/needle if your using the std carb and you should come out a winner... compared to the std pipe atleast

still doesnt compare to the jetpro rep on a std...

but realistically... the fatboy will work better with a pro cag motor with an adjustable clutch

and if all else fails.... put your std pipe back on until you upgrade to a jetpro rep

yeah im goin to try to lean it out as i think its running pretty rich. if that doesnt work im goin back to my stock pipe with broken off muffler(so it is LOUD) until i have the head kit and full circle crank and other good bits.

oh yeah i am using the stock carby until my 15mm del rep gets here.

i hav found that the brakes r rubbing very hard on the disk. so that may also be part of the pick up problem.

yeah. on the chain tightness subject. how tight? i know on my honda hornet its 2-3cm of movement in the tight spot of the chain but 2-3cm movement on these bikes is heaps.
its a whole different frame to to wat i have been using and took a bit to align the chain.

after a bit of piss farting around and plenty of swear words i finally got it all back together and lifted the jet and cleaned out the carby, checked the plug.
also drilled out the brakes so they r true floating brakes and so they dont rub against the disc. also re tensioned the chain and now its hooking along. still not quite as quick off the line as it was (i think) but really peaks out now and gets moving along.
dunno which 1 exactly made the difference but im sure it all helped. thanx
