Pictorial install of a steering damper on Banshee SHO 56k warning

G'day readers
Today's mod is one I've wanted to do for awhile now.
I've always wanted to install a steering damper on my Banshee SHO but always thought it was near impossible due to

lack of locations to install the damper unit.
I'm working on a budget so purchasing a genuine kit for a GRC GP wasn't an option. Instead I went with a Chinese

made steering damper kit purchased from Oz minimoto. Cheap and cheerful.

Well onto the pictures.
I've tried to cover all angles.

WARNING. GRATATUTIOUS USE OF STEEL BOX SECTION
The bracket that comes with the steering damper to mount onto the front forks will not fit the Banshee. Actualy

given the small size I really don't know if it would fit any bike. So I constructed my own out of a strip of

aluminum and bent that around the fork then used some square steel tube to extend up from the fork mount to provide

a sturdy mounting point for the rose joint on the end of the damper shaft.

In this image you can see I've used some steel square tube as a strong mount for the damper. This mount is mounted

to the frame via the front fairing mount. The original bolt is used and fits through the hole in square tube. The

open sides allow easy access incase the bolt needs to come out in a hurry.

Steering straight

Hard right

Hard left

Mission accomplished
Everything turns freely as it should. The damper function is very smooth and I belive will help add a new element of control to the bike at speed. best of all despite the steering damper being out in the open it doesn't get in the way of any of the controls and the fairings fit on without any dramas.

I hope you enjoyed reading and viewing this. I'm not the best with my use of words but I take good photograph. And they say a picture speaks a thousand words. I hope you can learn from my images and get some ideas.

The steering damper moves on a pivot away slightly back from the steering head. The brackets on the left fork are all keyed so nothing can move that isn't meant to.

And yes it does work! Infact I'd say about 70% of the possible travel on the steering damper is used in this configuration.
