handlebars

just a quick question.

i had my first ride on a pocket bike i brought yesterday and it felt as if i was to hunched over the front. my question is if i found a way to modify it so the handle bars sat up higher would that make it easier or harder handling wise.

the bike is a mk1 cag i think. the bike also feels sluggish off the mark and the slightest uphill you can smell the clutch wearing out. any suggestions about making it take off better or is it my fat a@# sitting on it. i weigh around 90kg.

any replies muchly appreciated. thanks.

leaning over the front is essential for cornering

try sitting up more next time you corner and you will find it a lot more unstable

Hay man try adjusting ya handle bars straight instead of angled in towards you this will give you better overall handling. I would'nt modify too much with the height that would be the same as raking of a normal bike.
With ya clutch try tougher springs your weight would be placing stress on the soft springs you have on your clutch now making your clutch slip and burn.

90 kg is getting a bit weighty for a chinese bike & stock aircooled engine
& most dont like stop starting & uphill runs unles the clutch is fully engaged

try what shotgun suggested, grab a new clutch with the 10 turn heavy duty springs you may be able to buy the springs on their own still but it never hurts to have a spare clutch

the way the cags are set up is the leaning forward effect feeling & after a few fast laps you do tend to get sore & worn out in the wrists, hands & forearms
but its a matter of shifting your weight & your riding style & playing about to see what works best & feels comfortable for you
