new alloy oull, omg! what a pain

i just bought a new alloy pull, and i went to paint it, cause i figured why not, and the pawl popped out and the coil undeneath that makes the rope return came out and unwound,
this thing is so hard to wind back up.
has anyone ever done this, tips would be great. cheers

(new one to, never used, what a bitch!!!!)

yeah, engage the outer tab then just slowly wind it in with two hands to ensure the previous wind you put in doesnt explode out again, then when your done put it back in and rotate it a bit to get the center engaged.

ive had to do this about 6 times so far you get good at it after a while lol.

and damned if im going to pay $30 everytime it happens hehe.

youll find you may need to adjust the pullcord as there may be slack in it now.

cheers

yeah they get slightly f**ked lol, just sort of keep one finger pressing down on the opposite side so it wont explode out halfway when your done winding it. ill do a video on it when i can find a camera

Take it to any lawnmower repair shop they usually only charge $5-$10 to rewind them. I watched him do it a couple of times, try useing pointy nose pliers to hold it all together when rewinding it and placing it back in the cover. Saves it from springing open again.
Lawnmower shop is the best solution though.
