Fuel Tap Leak

Noticed there is a bit of fuel leaking out of the fuel tap, not too much. Its just before a constant streram pretty much as best as i can explain it. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem and rectified it, or knows how to?

Also i have been RIPPED off i have a 40cc engine from the bottom 4 fin theory. Is this the reason for my bike being the slowest of my group of mates also stock pocket rockets. It takes off shit but gets there eventually and has fair top end. If this is the reason how can i get it too beat them??

Thanks for any help.

either replace the o-rings in the tap or replace the whole tap.

Get your self a New RD head kit, And a few more goodies and you could have a quick A/C..

Are you going to be racing the bike though?

each engine is different some stock 40 cc engines can be fast & usually take off well

then other things like gearing & rider weight & experiance comes into it so i cant tell you why your M8's bike is quicker or if it is but yes he may have a good 49cc ??

as for the fuel tap leak its probbly only the rubber you can try pulling it apart & inspecting it
there is a rubber & a spring type washer the washers can sometimes flaten out & cause a leak so replace or rebending the bent type spring washer may be all you need to do

if you take it apart take notice where the bits like washer & rubber go so you put it all back properly

you can also remove the tap & make a flat plate to cover the hole by using the plate & gasket just drain the tank when not in use

Or buy a fuel tap from a lawn mower shop for about $5.

I have had a couple of 39cc cag motors and found that they go better than the 49cc cag motors as they will rev much higher and rev up faster. U may need a timing key if urs is sluggish but it could also be a fuel/carby problem as u have a leaking fuel tap.

the stock fuel tap is a joke, the rubber disintegrates and washes into the carb just as the stock fuel lines do.

1) remove the rubber "button" inside it
2) drill a hole straight down through the fuel tap.
3) get a bit of gasket material and a chunk of 3mm aluminium and make a new cover and seal.

could be something as simple as the fuel tap isnt assembled properly too i guess.. those two semi circular washers should go on correctly otherwise it could possibly leak.
