tyre treatments

Just a word of caution regarding tyre treatments.

Kart tracks are surfaced with hotmix, which is a petroleum product not dissimilar to tyres. Tyre treatments were banned in kart racing because they are made up of pretty nasty chemicals which can also damage the track. I would be careful if you guys run on a kart track, because if the kart club finds out that the minimoto guys are using treatments they will most likely chuck a fit. This was a condition of us even being granted permission to use the AKA circuit down here. If we are caught using tyre treatments, permission to use the track will be withdrawn instantly as they just spent $750,000 resurfacing it.

Saying this, i am not familiar with the brand you mentioned specifically, but i would just keep it a bit quiet.

I have riden on all china tyres there all right in dry condistions but only last one day of riding because thay are a mixture of plastic and rubber no good in the wet .and i have tryed vee rubbers there all rubber but out of shape so you drift sideways in very fast corners youcant hold your line. and as for savas thay dont last long.now I've had pmt t41 for over ayear on my elite bike no problems at all .now im trying t43 front and back you pay a little bit more but thay work and asfor using petroleum products on your tyres it will brake down the tyre compond just youse the right tyre for the track condistions .pmt B or T40 for temps over 30deg T41 for 30 deg to 26 deg T43 for 26 deg to 16 deg then there intermedio R H damp or drying track or rain R for standing water and raining cats dogs and if you look at euro videos thay do not back off at all in the wet.

Tyres are very hit and miss...

I've been running on a set of SAVA's on my WRS for 2 race meets(6heats, 2finals) and 7-8 practice sessions(about 7-8hrs track time) I'm still going on them but they are starting to look very worn...

A jnr has run the same tyres on a elite 14 jr, he only lasted 3 practice sessions(3hrs track time)...

He is alot lighter than me so you'd think he wouldn't be as harsh on the tyres...

Also alot of people say Zhongyas don't last long... I can get about a year out of a set...

And I still stand by 'VHT'...

what about TYRE PRESSURES
this is a subject that is not touched on it could be the difference between winning a race & ending up at back in the field or in the kitty litter ??

id like to know recommended minimum & maximum front\rear Tyre pressures for good brand tyres like PMT & SAVA's
if someone knows or wants to compile some recommended Tyre pressures & post them in a new thread ill make it a sticky so it shows in the search option that no one uses lmao

anything over 25psi and under 15psi will be impossible to ride properly. depends on weight but im under 60kg and 18psi is perfect.

seems too high = not enough traction
not enough air = tyre flex and the bike will bounce and wallow around

Tyre pressures can also change the temperature of the tyre to little pressure will cause more heat drag & friction & slow you down & as glen said less stable

too much & the Tyre will have less surface area touching the ground so you loose traction & cant get the Tyre to ample running temp
