and also to stop the mixture leaking back out the carby, make shure u change the gaskets when changing reeds also as the old gasket may be damaged

do you think the reeds stop the fuel mixture from escaping back through the carby,s venturi ?

a clue, why is it very important to have good sealing reeds to plate block ?

i need more of a hint, until 2 weeks ago when i got my bike i had no idea how a 2 stroke worked.

do the reeds stop exhaust fumes from exiting through the intake aswell?

you know when the piston is making its way down in stroke, this causes a build up of pressure which in turn forces the reed to close, just like closing a door. if the reed has a bad seal on the plate cage, pressure is lost in the crankcase.
