riding boots

hi all,

recently i've been having the problem, where, my pocket bike riding boots have been wearing down significantly on the sides over a short period of time. I am getting worried that next time i go out the holes in the side of my boots will get bigger and brreak through to my socks inside. What can people suggest to help stop this from continueing?(other than the obvious one, to buy new boots). maybe some steel caps?
