exhaust wrap is not a cure for a leaking pipe / header, for best results you should remove the pipe then take the header pipe section off, clean all with straight petrol of degreaser, wash and dry so all is spotless then you should use some automotive silicon [ blue ] available from supercheap in small tubes. apply this silicon in and around the joint then re-fit the header to the pipe, then you must allow 24 hours before you run your engine. as long as you clean all areas properly before using this silicon you will have a perfect seal with no leaks atall.

Exhaust wrap is not a good idea. A two stroke engine relies on harmonics in the pipe system and any wrapping of the exhaust will affect the pipes performance, even paint on the pipe is not recommended. Also when an exhaust is wrapped it hides any rust that forms on the pipe and can make it brittle, leading to more problems. The best thing for the pipe is silicon and a spray with WD40 when you have finished riding, this will keep the rust away.

ok i have removed my exhaust, i want to get the exhaust as clean as possible because there is black muck everywhere, what would be the best way to clean it, do i just drop all 3 parts in a bucket of fuel?
and what do i do with the muffler on the end, can it get wet without getting ruined?

I have same problem on my fatboy joints, and I had 2 cracks on either side where the solder joint is for the springs to hold the 2 joints together. I used Muffler Putty from BP to fix this, and Silicon for the joints.

No need to fully immerse the pipe. Just get rags with fuel on them and wipe until it's clean. When prepping the surface for the silicon bond clean the oily residue left by the fuel. Use metho for this, as it will leave the surfaces squeaky clean. Go to an auto shop and get some: Permatex (brand name) 'Ultra Blue' rtv silicon. If you can't get hold of this brand go for Loctite Hi Temp Red.
