| which head kit? it has come to my attention to advise the novice / mechanicley minded persons who have purchased and fitted the two piece head kits that are available on todays market. i have now seen 3 badly set up head kits resulting in destroyed head domes, piston tops and stripped crankcase head bolt threads, these types of cylinder / heads must be set up correctly by an experienced person to avoid these problems. we can,t just buy a kit and bolt it on and expect the power to be there, their are 4 things we must remember when fitting a new 2 piece kit, sparkplug length, head clearance, bolt tension and patern. if non of these 4 are correct you will have problems. the one piece modified barrell design is much more suited to the novice and i must say pro due to the ease of assembly without the risk of any major problems like the above 4. please understand i am not trying to turn people off buying the 2 piece design kits but i do feel for reliability and lasting of the engine stay with the single barrell design and if needed have it moded by a pro. as the saying goes, you must finish a race to place. |
