Riding Styles??

After seeing photos of people riding around the place... some people hang their butt off the bike and some people dont... and no they dont do it cause they are over sized:P

does one have a distinct advantage over the other?

I find if I try and hang off the side... my pants grip to the foam on the sit and makes the bike wobble. removing the padding is a bad idea i think too :P

Thoughts? Ideas? Solutions? Proven Methods?

Cheers,

Ado

Find a style thats comfortable for you and practice, practice, practice.

Riding styles are like fingerprints.

I ride with my butt way off the seat, with my knee on the ground around every corner (go through a roll of race tape each meet  - wish my leathers would hurry up and get here..)

But yeh, if you hang right off the seat and with your knee on the ground, you will be alot faster through corners...the idea is to keep the bike as far upright as possible...

I ride similar to sharky....well atleast try too

hehe i dont even lean.
i dont race so the easiest way to turn on my roads (which aren't very bendy) is to slow down a bit, turn the bars a bit and put my leg into the turn

I would mind trying to move my butt off the seat but I wear draggin jeans..which are fabric and they grip to the rubber seat... taking the seat off wont be that comfortable though :P

i might try putting some plastic on the seat...so atleast i got some padding but its smooth to slide on... then see how I go. I can ride alright with just leaning the whole bike into corners...but if i can go faster changin my style.. then i'll try it.

do you find that you chew up less of your shoe/boots from moving your body instead of the bike?

Ive held off buying proper boots due to my shoes slowly wearing away.. dont want to buy expensive riding boots(even though you get extra protection) to have them grind away on the track.

If you keep the soles of your shoes hard up against the sides of the crankcase, so just the edge of your shoes are on the footpeg then you wont grind your shoes as much. Also moving your body so the bike is more upright will allow to take a corner quicker. You can keep leaning until your pegs hit the ground.

hehe i did that and the back wheel slid out from under me... now my calf muscle is all swollen =\

Im going to remove the foam seat padding and see how that works... not on the bike long enough to worry about the padding i spose? will help with the sliding part.
