i had a read up on the weekend about these actually, i believe the Z1s have a replica BZM engine which is pretty powerful for a rep. unfortunately the bzm parts dont fit it??

and also the small end bearing is apparently pretty tragic and needs to get replaced.

but also the z1 looks like another parts bin special. front end looks like the generic sq front and the frame looks a little suspect. and ive heard the chain roller is totally totally useless.

D1s i think would be the best china bike perhaps better even then the banshee. tons of CNC parts on them and i believe the engine is a banshee style 5 port with a really convincing BZM rep exhaust and fibreglass fairings.

fairly epic brakes too.

BUT ive heard if they are imported DM and ZPF would take legal action?? W T F?

I wouldn't worry about the importing problems with legal action.
Some people just what to scare you off importing, by threats.
Look at all the Blata reps, and nothing has been done.
The Z1 has been imported some time ago by a business and nothing happened.
A G1 is now still being imported which is a copy of the GRC, nothing is happening.
The Banshee is a Polini copy.
I have also know a D1 was imported by a business and nothing has happened there either.
So if someone whats to get a copy bike, just do it.
The only thing is don't sell it as a genuine, or then watch out for legal problems.

Also all Chinese made bikes are made to a very low price and so is the quality.
Expect many, many problems.
You get what you pay for.

Here is a write up on the D1.

If you want to read more.
d1 rep - Page 3 - Pocket Bike Forum - Mini Bikes

well I took off the bell and stock pos c-1 clutch this is the same motor as the 911 rep with the same problems(like the crank walks between the crank bearings a eighth of a inch) but it has a newer banshee cylinder and a new head with a solid motor mount.I have decided to pull the motor it is a piece of junk and not usable and install my race banshee motor,I will not use this motor due to the crank walk issue, and the crappy clutch.I had the exact same problem with my 911 rep and could not make 4 laps without either the shoe ripping off the arm or the c-clips and washers flying off the shoe pivots and hitting my foot letting me know my clutch just f---d up and I am done , when the crank walks when I side load the motor in a turn it pushes the clutch into the bell and knocks off the shoes or clips.I had to split the cases to fix the problem buy shimming the crank then got a real zochhi clutch so on and on.I just took more pics and start to pull that motor, then strip it down and take more pics of the insdes.......

by the way a bzm barrel will fit on a z1 crank case. and a full bzm engine will fit into a z1 farme thats what we have done. i have one of the good z1's there hard to find but if you can find them get them.

I also own a pair of z1's and overall they have been good, with only little annoying problems as you would expect from a chinese bike. No major problems.

I also own 2 polini 911 replicas and have had none of the crank-shaft problems you have talked of. 1 has a polini race crank now only because i put a bizeta 6-port top end on and wanted that extra bit of security. The other bike runs the polini 50cc topend with a standard crank and has not had any issues. The clutches are crap-non adjustable items on the 911.

The chain guide on the z1 is useless, just throw it away. The z1 is probably the closest chinese bike to being ready to race out of the crate. You will need to file the brake mounts on the forks so they float a little better. Drill the main jet to 0.96 mm, remove the chain guard and you are off.
