lets hear about your engine mods

its about time we started talking about how our engines are running after doing some slight to high mods, even if you only changed gearing or fitted a different pipe, so let this topic begin guys.

Hi, my motor is running sweet now after alot of messing around with the walbro rep carby( continuously getting blocked). it has a really hard powerband now. it has a massive increase in mid range and top end power. im running 6/60 gearing and it beats most bikes at the track especially down the straight. it still runs outa revs though. i first thought it was fuel running out but its not.the motor cannot put out any more power.my mods are in my signiture

hey guys i have done all the mods in my siganture. i found that the majorincreases were the headkit, pipe, carby and timing key. The bike is running the best ever at the moment for just the basic mods ive done. My bikes power band just hits, and i can feel the front start to lift a tad as i ride. The revs hit really high and i find that i got my major topend speed from the carby and pipe. cheers guys

my son is now my new test pilot for these little rockets, he is currently running one of ozminimotos new cag bikes with the new 6 port [ blue flame ] engine fitted. the bike came with a good genuine 49cc engine in stock form and when run in this bike performed very well, then came the blue flame engine plus a fatboy pipe and wow from the first run at no higher than 1/2 throttle, the difference in power as mentioned by the pilot was awesome. after the slow run in process of 4 tank fulls we then changed the fuel mix to the 40 to 1 av gas mix plus carb re jet to suit and then all happened, the words were [oh my god this thing goes.] from a standing start this engine provided the needed torque to lift the front wheel within 15 metres from this start and powerband occured at around 3/4 speed , rpms [ not saying ] but very high, gearing at present is 6 -68 but this will go to 7 - 72 for race track use.

hey RD your son race at archer field? in the pro class i asume. i hope to see you around, will be down in the next 2-4 weeks unless my bike stufs up again.

my bikes out of action ATM some random reason the new flyweel decied to eat my timing key,its self and the crank. ive had to wait till ozminimoto got back from holidays, parts were sent eairly today, hope fully here befor friday so i can install em after these parts i will have replace every part other then the crank case and stock clutch(clutch need replacing too) and ive done just about every legal mod to stay in the standard class, wich i find ironic because i have done so many mods.

i still havet race my be every time i do some thing gose wrong the week befor, lets see ive had

my clutch bell enialated
chain snaped
crank, flywheel, timing key chewed up and spat out
piston rings snap
lost pins at end of wrist pin
compleat rear wheel come off while drag racing
craby pissing out fule
carby blocked
craby replace
craby pissing me off with its tuneability
carby runing to rich and well oiliong my fatboy
fatboy spings half the size they should be
ordered wrong size wrist pin (my fault)
bike just didnt whant to start for about 3months befor i got time to work on it

yep thats my engien, and last time i had it running thoughit was beating all my neibours bikes with 7/68 gearing and that was befor i had a 33mm stroke, timing key and a RD head kit on. should fly now.

heres what ive done

RD head kit-49cc lighten piston, pistong rings BLAH BLAH BLAH
fiber glass reeds- soon to be TS
walbro carb
RD HC 33mm stroke crank
downgrade to unlighten flywheel-to ride in stock class
fule lines, filter blah blah
fatboy
flame paint job
upgraded wheel and engien bearings
timing key
NKG spark plug(HIGHLY RECERMENDED!!!bike now starts first few pulls)
pod filter
7 tooth front sprocket - may get diffrent rear if i feel i need to

and ive done a few other non profomance upgrades like reinforced fiberflass FF ect

and your welcom for the long ass post

I have done alot of mod's to my bike and since i rebuilt the engine i havent fully ran it in (on 2nd tank). I had a ride on my bike 2day and tried my new gearing 7/74 and to my surprise the bottom end was shit house, when it should have been popping wheelies i reckon.

This is what i think could be problem-

1. My advanced timing key is slowing my bike down
OR
2. My 80+ kg body is slowin my bike down.
OR
3. My bike wont go its full potential until its fully run in.

I'm going to try standard key this weekend and c if it makes any difference.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
