Clutch Attachment Issue

Dear Pocket Bike Fanatiques,

I just recently bought a new Clutch for my 49cc CAG, as my old Clutch kharked it. I cant seem to take off the existing Clutch. Ive taken the centre bolt out, but I cant pull it off.

Any Suggestions?

Im not %100 sure with the cag's clutch,but i think all you need to do is wedge a lever on either side if the clutch backing plate and very gentley use pressure to move it,you could also try giving it a soft love tape with a hammer,around the leading edge of the backing plate(DO NOT HIT IT WITH ANY FORCE)...A clutch removal tool would be your best option..they r dirt cheap.
Im sure some one will either verifiy what iv just said or tell you how to do it the ''right'' way...good luck.

I see the wedge/lever. Ive centered it to the middle so there is a gap on either side.. Still can't get it off.

if you have bought the simular type 3 shoe clutch unit, just remove all 3 springs then undo and remove the 3 clutch shoe bolt nuts and re fit your new shoes, take care in the re fit as you must place the washers as they came out plus use a bit of lock tight on the bolt threads and tighten up good.

i used the lever trick, it took a while but you should get it off in the end!

Yeah but what do you do to the lever? I dont quite understand how to get the clutch off. Spin Anticlockwise? Pull Off?

what i did, i got two tyre levers, put one one each side of the clutch and gently pushed bown on both, after a while it just pops off :o

So you push down on the clutch :wink:

NOOOOO...
get a lever, stick it under the clutch
do the same on the other side.
now push down on both levers, its like prying the clutch out,
dont be scared to apply a bit of pressure
