Beware of dodgy on-line traders

Hi all,
I deal with people online everyday, locally and international, and 99.9% of the time it is better than in person, due to ease and time.

Though I would like to let you all know about a bad experience I have just had with a pocketbike company "Wicked Ride" also trading as Bohun928s on ebay.

They advertise an exhaust for fullfairing bike, identical to the full fairing bike I had just purchased off my friend, I bought the exhaust, then when I received it, it was the wrong one, and by the looks of it had been welded together wrong. They would not return my emails for a couple of weeks, then when they did, they refused to believe that it would not fit a full fairing bike.
For photo's of this item go to the following link, and let me know what you think:

http://community.webshots.com/user/jjmonaro
and the look in "the only bad feedback - ebay" folder.....

After many many emails and me sending numerous photos, they still reckon it would fit that bike, and if I sent it back, with me paying for the postage, they would send me another one to try out???? Which they could not confirm would fit, I asked them to send me a photo with this exhaust fitted to bike, to confirm they were selling me the right item, and they could not. Well for a $20 standard exhaust, that I can buy anywhere, welded up the right way too, it is not worth it, so my mate cut it and welded it for me, and it was clear to see the end had been welded on the wrong way.

The moral of this story is only buy of reputable dealers, such as ozscoot or carterraceengines, or the like, not fly-by-nighters, as it will only cause you a headache and end up costing you more money.
This bike was just a cheapy for the kids, but has taken for ever for me to get back together....

Yes I am currently in the process of something similar. I have purchased an item on ebay - and i have done this before for parts I got my air filter on ebay no problems - and the seller has not even CONTACTED me yet, despite it being 6 days after auction ending and me emailing and ebay messaging them.

I've now given them 24 hours to contact me or I will be posting their website URL and ebay info on here and any other pocket bike forums I can find.

Feel free to post URLs of all the pocket bike forums you know so I can join them and post about it. We should compile a black list of rip offs.

Oh and I will also add that I paid on the night hte auction ended, like 30 mins after it ended. And they have even posted positive feedback for my transaction. Only problem is I have not got the item. So I know for a fact they know about the item ending and have looked at it since then.

Hi Catfish,
there certainly are some dodgy people on the internet, and alot of good ones too, it is unfortunate everyone does not obide by the rules.
Being easter time, I would probably give them a few more days, though, it does seems rude still that they have not messaged you back???
As Mark replied to me above, I would email them telling them of your intention, then if you don't get a reply, list there trading names on a message on this site and send them an email with a link to this thread, stating that if they don't reply you will post the same message to all forums around Australia.
Take into account that they may be injured or sick in hospital, as some people have their ebay set up to give feedback as soon as payment is made. Ebay and Paypal have fraud protection set up for people who don't receive items they have paid for, so also contact them first.
As for the blacklist I suppose we have already started one.
Hope it all works out for you Catfish

Yeah well I don't like to have to bad mouth people but it seems this is the only thing they deserve if they rip you off. And the auction ended after easter so I can only assume they should have at least contacted me in regard to it by now. Plus it's been an additional 6 (soon to be 7) days since auction end so we're talking 2 weeks since easter break. Pretty big holiday or hospital stay.

Clock's ticking. Know any other forums to post to about this? There should be a section on every forum I think.

My parts arrived today, a week after auction end. I also got an email from the guy saying my email was bouncing. That was fair enough since my default account isn't working ATM (pain in the arse providers) but I did say "send email to this address" with the first contact i made via ebay's emailing message system thing. And I also emailed my address to him another time, even setting the reply-to to the alternate address.

He(/she possibly?) also said that orders put in on Wednesday are processed within a week. Should put that on their ebay page listings then I wouldn't be as worried until 9-10 days after auction end.

And finally, the items are not the same as the picture shown on ebay and this is not mentioned on the ebay listing anyway. God some people are so frigging dodgy, just get a 80 buck nasty digicam and take a frigging photo of the item.

I won't mention the ebay name on here since I did get the item eventually, but anyone that investigates sellers before they bid should be able to work out who it was.

Hi Catfish,
you can find other forums by entering, "pocket bike forums" or similiar on yahoo/google, though I have found this one to be one of the better ones, not to many people bitchin about other crap or each other. You obviously posted them negative feedback, so expect to get it back, as ebay doesn't monitor feedback, or look after the innocent party, but like you said "it might stop others from gettin ripped like you did"...
Good luck with future purchases for your bike...

actually the best bit is, he posted positive feedback on mine right away when i paid 30 mins after auction. i only put neutral feedback on his, i would only give negative if the item was completely wrong (and no refund) or never received. i did notice that another buyer off him after me posted almost exactly the same feedback as i did. so it's not just me having a bitch about nothing.
