3 speed pocket bike

I have a Chinese pocket bike and Im quite impressed with its power and speed but i want to go a little bit faster and thought of putting gears on it. My plan was to get on old mountain bike use the derailleur and add 2 more gears. i have no idea if it would work just putting it out there for any suggestions.

good luck killing yourself.. the pinion would spin to fast for a derailer to connect it to a sprocket quickly enough.. i wouldnt trust it..

Hey you can always try but I think you'd snap the derailer from the torque of a pocket bike engine. Keep in mind power wise even a stock cag engine will do about 2500watts of power vs a human on a pedal push bike who can push about 200w - 400w constant i belive. It'd be suprised if it didn't snap.

and the chain on a pb is shorter and not made for any type of flex so it be worried about snapping the chain

i guess you could hack in a motard gearbox. that would probably be as close as youd get
