a question about fatboy pipes

hello just a quick question, i just put a fatboy exhaust onto my CAG and i just noticed that the underside of the begining of the large chamber on the exhaust is only about 1.5mm from the spark plug terminal. has anyone else had this problem, if so what did they do? to me it seems a little to close for comfort, also this would mean i would have to remove the exhaust system to change the spark plug, have i somehow installed it incorrectly or is this normal?

cheers adam

this is kinda weird we ran a fat boy on a few older bike with stock heads and two peice heads and never had this problem if you are worried about it being to close dont be as many other bikes such as our a/c elite bike has the pipe write next to the plug so i dont think its a problem how ever wen we ran our fat boy we insulated the pipe as it was close to the plug and lead and we found no power gain but wen the bike got hot it did not brake down it still ran smooth hope any of this help's

hey dudes , if you are running the 2 piece head kit with an NGK C7HSA spark plug you can run a shorter alternative spark plug NGK CMR7H . this will give you some more clearance . however with a standard head kit and NGK BPM6A spark plug there is no shorter option . hope this helps . cheers .

cheers daz im already running the NGK BP7MA spark plug on a standard head so there goes that idea :-(. what about if i knock a little dent in the underside of the pipe to give me more room, as when i looked at the gap properly its more like 0.5mm thats no where near enough room by my thinking?

cheers adam

if you dont mind ruining your fatboy, and the inherent power losses due to a FUBAR expansion chamber then go right ahead...otherwise, dont F**k with it if its working, when it breaks...then you should go F**k with it.
