Polini c/f reed in CAG mod, rocks....

Well i've just finished modding the reed cage and installing a single polini carbon fibre reed in my CAG. I highly recommend this mod to anyone looking for power out of your CAG.

I purchased a set of reeds from viperperformance for $35 (you get 2) and this is the first time i've used these guys and must say the service was excellent.

So i removed the bridge in the reed cage and opened up the centre by approx 1mm on all 4 sides then tapered the edges inward. Firstly i tried the blue reed (thinner) and there was a massive improvement. Power band kicked in after only a couple of seconds and made good low down and mid range power.

Next i tried the green reed (thicker) and man what a difference. The power band kicked in slightly later than the blue reed but still a lot sooner than chinese tripples. It made excellent mid and high range power and man it just kept wanting to rev.

So with this setup you can use the green reed for top end longer tracks and the blue for the shorter tight tracks without having to change gearing.

I'm racing at South Morang next weekend for only the 2nd time so i'm interested to see how it goes against the other bikes. After this i will remove the choke and port out the throat of my walbro rep (great carb by the way) and then it's off to Danny's dyno to see what power output is. I'll be happy with anything around the 5 hp mark but anything above i will be stoked.

Any way here's some picks and again i highly recommend this mod as its the best money i've spent on the thing and it was only $35.00. A big thanks to Mac90 for the idea....

Maylands has them as well. Just go to the "contact us" section of their websites and give them a call.

Mayland Performance Spares

Go to "pocket bike spares" and they are just down on the left hand side
