My rebuild (another X9)

Everyone has probably seen this bike:

This copped a respray after a got sick of the blue, and since i already had one X9 (and 2 smaller cag's), i managed to get my hands on another X9 (in a pretty bad way), although new and unused it (has been sitting around since it was bought apparently) was going to be a donor bike for parts for my existing bike but after thinking about what was missing from the parts bike i decided to rebuild it, the new X9 is a 49cc 2stroke (2005 model MDL G18 - X9), the bike i have is a 49cc 4stroke (2006 model MDL G18W - X9).

Being a mid size pocket bike these things are pretty damn fun to ride!, here's the pics:

Rebuild time: 5days

The frame

The 2 stroke motor

Front guage cluster assy

Frame, motor, rear wheel assy and seat plastics in place after blasting and respray

Another shot of the frame and my ugly mug

Frame without rear suspension - sits pretty low, but that will change

Front wheel mock up - front forks being rebuilt and polished

One of the main parts missing from this bike is the front nose cowling, but since i already have the other X9, i took the front end off and made a mould of the front plastics including headlights, these will be made from fibreglass (since i cannot buy this part anywhere - yeh i've tried).

Being set up to race it's not like i will need headlights anyway, so the new nose section will have the indentations of the headlights without actually having them, all other electrics including the selector switch will be removed from the handle bars (it wont be needed)...

Will post some pics of the new rebuild along side my other X9 ...

enjoy ...

btw: everything alloy on this bike is being polished, all other parts such as the screws and bolts will be chrome plated, since my other bike is white, i decided i wanted this to be a reverse of the other, so its black all the way!

Both X9's together - still have to respray the fairings, seat plastics and finish the nose section for my black X9

That's it, will post some pics of the fibreglass moulding later, might give a few people some idea's for making or replacing some of their broken parts or fabricating a section from scratch.

Most of the parts on the black X9 i had to make since it's almost impossible to buy replacement parts, but having a metal working background behind me it was pretty simple ...

One of the problems i found while putting both of these X9's together was the rear foot pegs, the springs and ball bearings are totally c&*p!, so i used springs and ball bearings from a 250RR Fireblade, works a treat!
