| Hi Guys,
The AKA has changed its outlook at our insurance policy.
We have been using the same policy for three years with the AKA.
The MMMCI has never had a problem with its insurance being accepted for our members using a AKA Kart track.
On Monday 25th of this week the AKA has informed The MMMCI that its insurance policy is not adequate.
The MMMCI has been informed that all riders, mechanics, managers, flag marshals, committee, anyone who enters the track must have personal insurance before we are to be able to use any AKA Kart track. (Please ask for an email on this document for costs).
This is a major blow to the MMMCI as radio, newspaper, etc advertising has been put in place for this weekends event.
I have made at least 50 phone calls to attempt to resolve this issue, without any luck.
The outcome is the event that was to be held at Haddon Park Raceway Ballarat on the 1st and 2nd of March this weekend is now off.
I would like apologise on behave of The MMMCI to all members, guests and interested parties for any and all inconvenient this has caused.
We hope to have this matter resolved within the next few weeks, but with only a few days to sort this, we were unable to fix the insurance issue.
More information will be issued once we have the final word on future events that are to be held at AKA tracks.
I have contacted Transwest, (who is the AKA insurer), to ask them for a quotation from them to cover all insurance issues raised by them to cover the MMMCI at all AKA Kart tracks. Transwest said they will look at this request and get back to me tomorrow. As tomorrow is too late notice to be given to riders travelling long distances, The MMMCI has decided to announce the cancellation of the event due to insurance issues.
This outcome in no way affects MMMCI events held at South Morang, as South Morang is not a AKA track.
Thankyou
Darren
