Legalising a Mini Chopper - Please read

I've been staring at my mini chopper for quite some time now just wishing how much i'd love to take it for a spin around the block.

I wouldn't because I know the rules, but i love the seating position of these bikes and have got a few ideas i'd love to pass around with others.

If the bike was modified to have peddles as well as the motor (i know i know....) and kept the motor, would it technically be ok to be ridden on the road/bike track?

shove a massive electric motor in it "limit" it to 200w and its instantly legal

i happily chug my etek bike up to the shops and back with impunity these days. i love it. gotta love those 80kmh footpath runs.

motor was $400aud and controller was the same - i already had the rest. but you could make a pretty zippy little bike geared down with one of these!

Well well, I was in a shop last friday that sells thumpers and mini choppers..

I was completly amazed to see that a mini chopper they had in there had a QLD number plate attached to the rear of it...

I investegated a little further and found it also had a rgo label attached with the number matching the plate...

So it appears that you can legally ride these on the streets..

I'll duck back in tomorrow to get some pics and investigate further...

What is wrong with a pocket bike using a 200watt system?
I know it would be slow but i couldn't see how that wouldn't be allowed

Minimum seat height I would belive. I'm not sure if you've noticed but all of the pedal powered motor assited bikes have a fairly high seating posistion and i'm quite sure that's a contributing factor that helps make them legal. It's a visability thing. If you rode an electric pocket bike on the streets you'd get hit by a car becaues they can't see you.
