New bike starting problems

Hello I just purchased a 49cc & cant get it started.
When I open fuel valve, fuel flows out the bottom pipe.
Is this normal?
Can any one help.

Sounds like the float isn't sitting right. I'd turn off the fuel, take the bowl off the bottom of the carby and make sure the float is sitting straight. Probably worth cleaning out the whole carby while you're there if you haven't done already.

( I can't back that up )

Comment of the month:
A piece of steak doesn't bounce at all when you drop it because it stays relaxed. Try to stay relaxed on your bike and your suspension/tyres will thank you.

if the dropping it on the back wheel trick dont work you may need to reajust the float level & make sure the float is not filling with fuel

i have seen a couple of floats that have cracks or slight pinhole leaks or were just made bad, so instead of working as a float they fill with fuel & sink so wont shut off the fuel at the needle & seat

also remove the float & make sure there is a needle in behind the float tab sometimes chinese made bikes have been known to have bits missing
& while your there give the tank & carby a cleanout they are known to have bits of plastic & other crap floating around the tank when new

ide also recomend not using the fuel tap o the stock carby as they quickly become a probem
i would recomend doing a slight mod to the tap where u remove the tap disasemble and cut the center out of the ruber gromet to by pass the tap or alturnatily
disasemble a the tap and drill a passage straght through the tap so it bypasses the turning part altogether i beleve there is a full tech thread o this procedure but t will prevent hastles down the track

also replace the chinese fuel filter with a quality item from a bike shop as the china item tend to deterioate over time
