I think as it stands now is the best way, there is no way you can please everyone.
most clubs cater for most spec of bike so the sport is cheap at club level.
this is supposed to be a national championship series. so yes the cost if you want to challenge for the title will be higher, and the competition will be tougher. this is the same in any sport when you get to national level over club
there is no point setting up a event in four different states with a class for every possible spec of bike to only have a couple of riders on the grid for each class,
what next!!!! give everyone who enters a 1st place trophie and they can go home happy and call themselves the Australian champion of class 34, stock air-cooled 39.151/2 cc with red fairings and blue grips.
not everyone is going to win. im sure whatever class peoples bikes qualifies for there will be someone of similar speed to battle with.
lets just get out there and enjoy the races, meet new people from other clubs and help push the sport forward

Hi Guys
You all bring up great points.....But I for one don`t really care about the rules and will race under any rules that the organizers of this event propose.
As long as everyone else adheres to them as well . As KTM said this is above a club event and I know that this event is going to cost my family quite a bit of money but at least we can say we raced at the true Nationals of minimoto !
So forget the debate lets race
Ps Bravo to all the track owners and organizers of this event !
with the chinese class in nsw a few riders have euro cranks, as do i, i striped a thread on the end of the old crank where the clutch goes on and needed to get a new crank. my bike abides with all the chinese rules except the crank and I'm not prepared to go to the the expence and hassels of buying another chinese 1 for 3 races, not only that it was actually impossible to get the chinese crank i needed? that is why i got the euro one, can this be somthing that could be changed, or accepted to race, it is still in chinese casings,i'm sure there are other riders in other states with a similar problem.

100% hardcore this is the type of thing I am on about unfortunatly you would be in the class where your bike would be no match for the bikes with full euro bits and pieces. Sure you dont have to win to have fun but being thrashed is not fun either. There is always going to be issues with classes due to the amount of different bikes and modifications which are available, but I still believe that making a class for out of the box is a great way to give new people in the sport or people who just wish to race without spending money, to get out and learn, if we want this sport to grow remember it's the young people who will take this sport to different levels in the future and use this as a stepping stone for other possabilities. Its where Valentino Rossi started.

you're only goin to 3 races.......
what about every1 else that hav full chinese bikes that would hav to race verse bikes with euro parts... that would attend all the meets...
Classes look heaps better, maybe a little harder to police, but alot better...
& I'm the same as you crash, I'l prob run in open cag & open chinese w/c..

hey shotgun, my banchee i have will keep up with the euro bikes , once i get the clutch sorted out , it will be right up there, i also have a very competitive ZPF and the banchee is only just off the power of that, i think just a basic rule would be the best, and easiest to police, no having to open engines at the track ect. also this makes it easier for getting parts as the chinese ones break, basic rule should be chinese frame, chinese casings on the motor, this than makes it easy to up grade to some quality parts as the chinese parts break. eg clutch chain pinions, ect.
