Introducing Your New Admins Hey Guys!
It’s about time that we introduce ourselves to you all. Yaro and I (Rob) are the new site admins and we’re really excited to be managing this forum as it’s become a respected site for guys (and girls) to talk Pocket Bikes. Since we believe this site has a lot of potential, we’re going to be putting work into it and improving it for you guys to enjoy.
Since moving in, we’ve been adding in bits and pieces to the forums to improve the overall functioning of the website. So far, we have upgraded the site’s software (which explains the recent downtime), changed the listing of the forums slightly and added measures to help minimize spam on the site.
Overall we’re pretty impressed with the way you guys have built this community and we’d like to further develop it as the place to talk pocket bikes.
There have been a lot of things which we have been taking note of since we’ve settled in here. Most notably, we have found the site to be experiencing issues such as excessive swearing, flaming, some spam and more.
We’re going to start introducing new rules and features, over the next few weeks after we decide on some key features. However, here are the issues we are able tell you about: Spam:
The forums have been getting a trickle of spam, so we’ve added a plug-in which will stop spam getting through – however it does have the side-effect of stopping legit posts. So, if your post doesn’t show up automatically, it’s being held in the queue waiting for us to moderate them by hand.
We’ll be working diligently on the site to reduce the impact that this plugin has on regular users of the site, so please bear with us. New Rules:
Unlike before, we’re going to be enforcing rules around here, starting with our new policy of three strikes and you’re out.
We expect that you won’t post any inappropriate content like porn, bad language and bad behavior – each of these will result in an infraction against your account. Meanwhile, spamming will result in an instant and permanent ban.
Also keep your eyes peeled next week as we’ll be discussing new rules to implement and improve the site, and will announce them as we implement them. Forum Re-arrangement:
Another thing which is on our mind is to improve the user-friendliness of these forums. You may have noticed that we have already altered the forum layout on the front page – moving the most popular forum to the top.
Anyway, since this is ultimately your place to talk pocket bikes, let us know what we can do to the site to make it more enjoyable for you guys.
We’re very excited to be managing this forum, so if you’ve got any questions post them in here or shoot us a PM.
Cheers,
Rob.
