Smile Racing at Pooraka

Hello all,
Just curious as to what is going on with Pooraka.
Are we currently still running a winter championship or has that been cancelled all together.
There never seems to be any information regarding the racing ie dates etc.
The last meeting from memory was almost 3 weeks ago now yet there still is no results published on the Adelaide pocket bike web site, nor any information regarding next race dates etc etc.
Im asuming if we are still racing that the next race date will be June 24th.
Hopefuly not June 17th as this would rule me out and several others that I am aware of.
Can someone please advise me as to what is happening regarding the next race dates and posably get the last results published.
Thankyou
Frizzy

Hi frizzy

Just as a note the APBA do not run the races at pooraka they are run by the track owners. The website will be updated when the APBA takes over the race schedule, at this time the info there is being hosted and uploaded by jeremy for free. Jeremy is away 4 2 weeks so until he gets back there wont be an update.
we are looking at having planned racing for august onwards. I overheard that they were going to cancell the winter series. Why? i dont know but they were looking at still running the rest of the races ( which dates I do not know) as fun races. Just like ANdy did during the summer ( same format)! The best thing to do is contact the track and confirm what they are going to do.

the APBA is not the pooraka track, the pooraka track is just one of the tracks we will be racing on during 2007 & 2008

hope this helps

regards
Dave

Same here too, Ryan was running second and ben was 1st in elete and third in 40. And my sidecar!
your 40 is right on the pace! you have got to come down to pt eliot. You and pete would race well together.
I will be looking at dates shortly if you want to pm me your bad weekends so I can at least get you some runs down south.
regards
Dave

Three wheels the weekends that frizzy are available are the same as mine, if pooraka want to cancel the winter series I will race at pt elliot instead, so the 24th on juns and every fortnight after is when I am available to race as this is my weekend off.
Owe and Frizzy ya betta watch out this track suits my riding style more than pooraka ya want me to ride harder this is the track to see it happen.
Why has the winter series been cancled has there been a reason last I spoke the boys I was still under the impression it was going to go ahead but at the end of it there would be more social events arranged to suit both go karts and different formats of racing like 1 hr races etc, but didn't think this was goig to happen till the end of the winter. Bummer I was doing well, going for a number 2 or 3 on my bike. Frizzy we might just have to put them on anyway ha. It's not our fault the decided to finish the winter series.

Hey Pete how are you mate.
I have already heard by others that you are a demon on the Port Elliot track. Would love to get down there one day and have a ride myself.
Regarding the winter championship. i spoke to Bruce today. He said at this stage its not cancelled, will no more after the next committee meeting. If it is cancelled he said he would honour those that have raced in the meetings prior to the possable cancelation and reward them for their current positions. Cant ask for much more than that really.
Feel sorry for Kier though as he had to miss 1 round due to illness. Like wise for Jeromy and my brother in the R1 class, but hey Ill take first place anyway lol.
You are correct in what you explained to Dave, my free weekends are the same as yours so hopefully we can arrange a ride together at Port Elliot some time. I also heard your brother does quite well there to.

Ok for starters no air cooled has passed me on my blata, on the r1 yes as this is not my bike, my brother has just bought this bike which is now getting some work done to it change of carby, timing key, exhaust etc and I hope the next time I ride this at the pits I will be passing air cooleds on it, it as should be very quick.
Anyway I had a lengthy conversation with Bruce today and until the results of the next comitee meeting come out there is no official word that the winter season has been cancled, most likey it will be another couple of weeks before the next meet as the 24th is fast approaching and organising it would be short notice, but I think still achievable if we want the winter championship to continue to the end.
So Frizzy what you wrote is on the money.
My brother enjoys the track he finds it more free flowing and tends to suit his straight corner riding style, his bike is also very quick which I have always known so this helps, but he has a new toy now and cold be giving you a run for ya money on an R1 soon. I think this bike will suit him more he seems to enjoy riding them, he has always wanted one now he has one.
Just one thing Matt if ya reading this, mate, it needs a paint job, get rid of the silver and go Ducati Red.

On the local track. The APBA has to make sure it can secure numbers to run the events there. As we will need to pay for the hire of the track regardless of numbers attending. I for one am not prepared to vote on the AMBA covering any losses. we are looking at possible pre entry to make sure that numbers will be there . The exact dollar amount and time we can have the track has yet to be finalised, One of the members was going to discuss it with bruce and bring it to the meeting on monday night. Hopefully we can have the answers we all need very soon. With so mutch work to do I expect it will be august for us to take over racing at pooraka which would be close to the end of the winter series. In October we will then have the nessacery cover etc for more tracks.

Bear with us guys, We are wanting to have everything corect and sorted as soon as we can.

regards
Dave
