The Next Committe Meeting

What’s Dave been up too??

Well I have been busy working away on committee stuff and just about ready to push forward and set things in concrete. These are just some the items that I will be taking to the committee to vote on and get done before the end of June.

Race and conduct rules have been finalized and ready for some scrutineering, Some good additions are the use of better tyres for most classes except for stock out the box air cooled. I can probably put them up on my web site and put a link here if anyone is interested to see them.

Membership forms ready, race formats planned, I have had interest from many other businesses for another raffle! I can not believe the generosity of our community. Now I just need to discuss race starters, clerk of the course and flaggies etc, I have already spoken to some new volunteers for when we race away with good response. Still to be discussed is our current format used in the winter series.

I have had discussions with some other tracks and they have given me verbal confirmation of being able to race later in the year. All of which require insurance from us and national insurance being preferred. Woodside is in council being discussed but the outcome will not be known for a long time. They did say that noise was its downfall and that funding was needed to naturally contain the noise from residential areas. I do not think we should too much faith in council.

One of my most enjoyable items this week was an email from the AMMA ( Australian Minimoto association) forecasting a time span and format for insurance and a national committee and a level playing field for all! Australia wide handbook and licensing! State series, interstate series and Australian series!!!!!! Wow have we got some fantastic racing coming to us all. I an waiting for a reply on the insurance to make sure that our insurance will blend in with the AMMA insurance when it comes into operation in October 07

Raffle tickets for the Gen2 R1 replica are printed and distribution started today so I expect them to be out there to purchase in the next few days. I have got some tickets so if you want some just see me.

For the next meeting I intend to have all these matters finalized so they can be approved and put into motion. All that’s needed then is to get the printer warmed up and print them all off.

Club sponsorship and support. I have had several emails confirming interest in advertising in our newsletters, website etc. The sponsors will confirm their support as soon as pricing is sorted. So I have delegated this task on to get it done quicker.

Use of a different grid format to be tested with the first grid via lottery and there after using your finishing positions as the grid for the next race.

I am still trying to pry through the facts and cost of the APBA renting the track for our local races, the other tracks have already stated their fees and formats and we would all be happy with them.

To sum up I have been doing a lot of work, it’s all very close and I expect it will please most of you. I would welcome any other ideas that I can put forward.

I have done a dummy race season to gauge people’s views; I see that if we can plan a date well in advance, say November, it will give us all time to plan for it.

I do not mind if people pick, prod, chastise, commend or support my actions and directions. Please just remember that most of us are putting a massive effort into this for your benefit and to further minimoto racing Australia wide. Please keep it constructive.

I will have all this info with me at work, home and at the tracks we visit, so if you want to know more please ask me.

If someone could help me with one issue I would appreciate it greatly. With the current committee ( interim) do we stand down after members join and let the members vote for the people who nominate for the positions? Or do we elect ourselves and then do a reelection at an annual general meeting within 8 weeks of the new financial year? So on and so on. I am still a little confused as to which way it needs to be done.

I love the addition of the rule for standard ac: ENGINES: CAG Stock engines only. NO porting or adding/removing of material

That renders many competitors bike useless.
Just aswell im moving up into elite.

All looks good Threewheels, especially the grid format, never have (and think most haven't) liked the reverse grid.
Hope all keeps going forward, and better times ahead. Just like to thank you, for achieving so much, in the short time you have been a committee member.

Hi Robbie
there was one thing i did not mention is that there would have to be a grace period for bikes to comply. I would estimate it to be a 12 monthe period. That way thoes of us who would have trouble reworking their engines could do it over the year at a cost they can afford. I am one of the ones who have to change my stock bikes lol
I realy think that stock should be stock and eleite is open.

thankyou for your input, what do you think of the grace period idea
Also porting is not always the best thing to do!
regards
Dave

But pure stock engine is for "Stock outta the box". Now ill have trouble selling my engine, because its of no use in SA anymore.

Hi threewheels, this isn't a big concern of mine, but was looking through the new rules, and if I could just ask the reasoning behind having to have cable brakes only. As i was thinking of adding Hydraulic brakes to one bike for safety reasons as I am not as light as others, and feel this will let me pull it up safer, as I have tried now using Racing pads on this bike but still need it to have better feel and stopping power than it has, as Iam now use to the great brakes on the Blatas..
Cheers and look forward to your response.

Hi Ronin

That was an oversight by me, It will be cable and hydraulic brakes. I already run both so I better change the rules to suit. ( not for my own benefit )

Hmm just tried to update the page but the htm code is screwing up. I will see how many other items need adjusting and redo the original doc and then upload that during the week.

Regards
Dave

Hi Sammy

you need to determine who "they" are. Because we are a new committee looking at an Australian wide association. Rules were originally written for the pooraka track. Now we need to look a lot wider. But dont forget there is a grace period and you are not expected to comply straight away. also rules can be changed (using the corect method). Take the time to look at other Aust club rules and you will see what we are trying to achieve, simple easy rules that are easily maintained. Even with the rules that we run to before, everyone except a few were bending them very far! How many a/c stock bikes have got full circle cranks in them? if we have say stock out the box, then stock and elite in a/c and water cooled there can be too many classes and you would be waiting a loong time between races. I am trying to do things as efficiently as possible. Wouldnt it be nice to race 2 heats and stop for a break then 2 more and still get home before dark.

your input is greatly apreciated and i will answer it as best I can, if you want your input heard at the next committee meeting just let me know as i need to hand it to the secretary befor the meeting commences.

Regards
Dave
