yep there should only be a smooth surface past the pins. the threaded part screws into the brake mount and then the caliper slides on the smooth part of the bolt.

i turned mine down on the lathe on a dreambike and gp3 because it was having the same problem. but you could always drill out the calipers a little and grind the thread off.
