you could use a single flywheel to fire both ignitions by putting a coil at 180 degrees opposite to the original coil. The trick is ensuring that the cranks are at 180 degrees to each other. sorry if it wasnt clear, yes they will be connected.
and i had thought of running both engines off the one flywheel, but i didnt want to have to make the mount for the second ignition coil, extend the spark plug lead, and get the crank alignment absolutely dead on (imho way too much effort, when i can just use the current system)
