| your other option is to make a tandem twin. You put one motor in front of the other, have the two cranks joined by a chain or belt(similar to a cam chain, but 1:1) then run a clutch on the rear crank shaft. Packaging can be an issue, you might have to make one engine run backwards. this would be a setup similar to the rotax 256 gp engines.
just something to think about. Depends on what tools you have and how much time/effort you want to put in.
