| all well said fellas.
Originally, I was using a small chain with 6 tooth sprocket and 68 tooth rear.
Well all things wear out and my local dealer didn't have any chains in stock but what he did have was a brand new pocket bike(1 of many) that had a heavier gauge chain and sprocket set(chain gold in color) than the ones I've been using
Thought HEY!! this is the answer .Should last forever. Rear sprocket was same dimension as the ones i was using so bought rear sprocket, chain , clutch bell housing with bell and front sprocket.
Got home and checked and sure enough everything was same size and dimensions and would bolt right on and then I WOKE UP and realized that a heavier chain riding on the same diameter sprocket is going to have less teeth!
And sure enough, I'd just regeared my bike from a
6 and 68 (11.3 to1)ratio
to a
6 and 54 (9.0 to1)ratio
so now I am geared approx. 17% higher. lol
but no probs, I only weigh 230 lbs !!??!! lol yeah right.
anyways my question is why are these sprocket tooth counts not on the above chart, does anyone else use this heavier chain and why would a new stock pb with identical motor, tires etc. be geared that much higher than the rest??
Its a good thing I have pedals to get me moving off the line .
6or 7 pedals with the throttle cranked and i,m off to the races lol
