| | | Hello every one...
I have just taken on this sport, as a spin off from a promotion I'm doing at my restaurant, where I'll be giving away an R1 replica. I now own 2 pocket bikes. A Cag and a Blata replica (more coming later), both of which are in peaces getting hotted up just a tad. Can't weit to hit the track this winter, as it is the quiet time for my big bike at Phillip Island. I have a whole bunch of friends taht are willing to give it a go (all excellent riders). See you all out there.

Unfortunatly, both my bikes are getting modified. The air cooled Blata replica is getting engine mods, and the Cag is getting both engine and chassy mods. Paul Carter is taking care of the motors, I'm tacking care of the chassy and detail. I wil buy a watercooled soon and tune it so as to have one of each. I'm a Mechanic/engineer by trade, and my budget has little limit on these toys. I'm used to going very fast on the big stuff, but these little ROCKETS are such a challenge just to ride, I love it, I look forward to the track! They are so cheap, and fun! Just the titanium evolution Acrapovich system on my big bike will buy you a top notch Italian machine. The suspension will buy another, and so forth. I may even decide to sponsor a team with my restaurant. We will see. Is there any other track besides South Morang in Victoria where we can ride these things?

Check book racer. Put your money where your mouth is and sponsor some of the kids out there that need a better bike. Not just YOU. Talk is cheap.

Why get upset? As I said, I love the sport, and I never get into any thing half hearted. I have the means to help promote the sport, as my bikes will be displayed in my shop, where a lot of people will see them and ask questions. I have already contributed to the supporting businesses with work, sales (my self and friends). As far as sponsoring a young kid, who said I wasn't going to. There is an opportunity here for some one. As far as my ability on the track, we will see. I'm not the fastest at Phillip Island, but not the slowest at 1:50's. I also race outboard monohulls at 100mph. This is a whole new game, and I have seen some talent already. I will NOT take any thing away from this sport just because I also do the big stuff. At the end, it's all about having fun!

Hey La porto,
what big bike class do ya ride at the island.
My bro rides super stock, but his old bike was a `98 cbr, only did 1.55.
Now upgraded to a 2005 cbr, hopefully will improve his times.

I have a GSXR 600 2001 model. It has been set up by Phil Tainton from PTR, the same team that has won the Australian Superbikes 3 years in a row. He is a friend, and has done the works to it. It is not a Super stock, probably closer to world Supersport. Without going into detail, it produces 120 hp at the rear wheel at 14500rpm. It would do bettrer with more revs, but I would have to install a race wiring harness, and loose the indicators. This on the dyno. The suspension is completely Ohlin. I use Michelin Pilote Race tyres which I usually get near new from a friend who runs a team.
I don't race, as my business takes too much time, and I'm also involved in fast outboards. But I have a whole lot of fun at ride days. Although I can do 1:50's, I'll be honest, I'm not constant. The next track day I'll be 1:55'. and the next I'll be better, depending how I feel. I have both high sided and low sided, and payed the price.
1:55's is very respectable, but he will have to worck harder to get on the podium. Most guys are under 1:50 in that class (which is awsome), with the same old CBR. Good luck to him, and I hope to meet him at the island one day. It will be fun! I wish I could describe what it feels to come out of turn 12 on to the sraight with your knee on the ground at 200 plus, just about rubbing the tyre of the guy infront of you, as you ride his slip streem to overtake down the straight, and then play chicken with the brakes at turn 1. At the end of the day, with the bikes the way they are now, and the tyres avaliable, it is alwys the rider letting the bike down.
