Gentlemen, just so we can keep this all above-board, I was the member Ronin is talking about in his post.
I am currently on at least six different pocketbike sites, plus a couple of go-kart and minibike sites. (Yes, one of those other sites is PBP.com, which is the original one I started with.) I figured it was okay to point people to these other sites, not so much to "steal membership" from here, but to let other people know that there are other sites out there, perhaps with more information on a subject someone is asking for. Say someone needs a tutorial on cleaning a stock carburetor. If there's not a step-by-step thread here on PBR, maybe one of these other sites has it (actually, PBP DOES have a really good one with pictures ....)
My whole thing is trying to help somebody out, get their bikes back up on two wheels. If I know where the information is, I'm not gong to say, "Sorry, I can't post a link to it, because it's on another forum" I'll say, "Here's where I found it, hope this helps," and give credit to the original poster, no matter what site it's on. This also helps us HERE, because it's exposing more people to more sites related to the same subject - pocket bike racing - and maybe someone from one of those other sites will come here to join up and see what this forum is like, too. That's how i got here ..... I actually found this site on Google, liked what I saw, and signed on.
Now to be fair, PBP runs a lot of Cags and chinese bikesfor the most part, but there are a number of guys over there running Euros, too. Admittedly, being a Cag-man myself, I don't know much about the Euros, except that they're higher-quality bikes and a few other things - however, YOU guys DO know about them, since that's mostly what you run. Anybody with a Euro question over on PBP, I tell them, "Look, here's a site where they mostly run Euro bikes, go check 'em out." Guess what? I send them here. Now, anyone want to talk about stealing memberships again? Is that what I just did to get new members here? I don't believe it is, but I certainly believe that helped someone out by pointing them towards a place where they could find out more specific information about their bikes. How can that ever be wrong? Me, I have a particular question about something, I'm going to go where the information is, doesn't matter waht site it's on.
As for the businesses ... I have no real say about that. I can tell people where I get my parts from over here in the States, plus one or two places in Canada, but in Australia .... you guys are the authority there. Private sales of bikes ... well, that's what the forum classifieds are for, right?
All right, that's my pair of Lincolns - I'll get off my soapbox now ....
