| | | National body for minimoto racing.
Hi to all real racers
You all know who you are. This post is quite hard for me to write as I don't wish to offend anyone or group..but I feel that I must have my say on behalf of our club the APBA in how our sport at a National level is going.
2 years ago it was put forward that we have a National body to run and set up a National comp.It was also suggested that this National body should have 2 representitives from each states appropriate clubs.
This suggestion for one reason or another never happened and it appears to me that the guys at Southwest Minimoto are having a huge input into a national comp without really consulting other clubs.
Now when I say that ...I really do appreciate all they have done to get the 2011 titles at Phillip Island and my boys will be there to race and support this event...I will be flying over for the weekend to see this spectacle.
My issues however are : I would like to see club tracks used to race National events on ,as these are the tracks that really support our sport. One big benefit of this is that the hosting club would profit from the event.
:Setting classes and rules would be a fair input from all club...things like A&B classes in elites could be set up..giving people who don't have the cash to up grade to the latest engines a class to race in.
: Are Motards a minimoto? do we can a track because they can't run.I have been apart of the minimoto scene for over 6 years now and have never been invited to a motard track or had them support a club.
these issues are only the tip off the ice berg and I feel that most of these issues could be resolved by a National body of club officials from each state, perhaps for the 2012 titles
The concerns and issues are not just my thoughts ...these are real concerns people have voiced to me.
Some people would love to race in a National comp ...but...feeling they have no chance to compete in a National comp...and have been overlooked in certain areas.
I know that a forum isn't the best place to discuss these issues..but its the only media we have.
May be at Phillips Island some time could be allocated to address this by all the clubs....I know that what I have to say would increase the nominatitions to the 2012 titles from SA.

Just on the motard front, i race motards and support a mini moto club in their endevours to provide tracks and ride days for any and everyone in the sport and to further promote the sport by exposure we have to other racers. us motard boys are in the process of gaining a relationship with a new track that we ourselves have acquired. we are in the process of a push to include pocket bikes to this track. i have offered the information to some pocket bike riders so that they can come to the track as a trial day so the owners of the track can see what pocket bikes are about and hopefully accept them as members. When you say you have never been offered track inclusion by motard riders that may be correct however others have. It offends me to have this dislike between motard riders and pocket bike riders.
In saying that, i would hate for an event to not go ahead just because of us. if that situation ever arises then please dont say no just because of us. we are hear to help also. if it is a cc or 4 stroke issue then we will just ride 85cc 2 strokes.

Hi Rover ,
i think that you have some valid points that need to sorted out but i think that if not for the great work that Sth West Minimoto has done over the past few years then i think this sport on a national level would be dead. Quote:

| | | Grnman just a question for GNRMAN what track do you ride at & could explain why you only mentioned to a few people on the quiet about a track day & not everyone if you are trying to boost mini moto/motard in general. I would have thought by advertising on this forum openly you would get a far better response. Bill

Yes sure i can answer your questions Bill. Why i have not publicly displayed the track and details is that we are still in negotiations with the track to become members and whether they want bikes at their kart track. i have not even been advertising to motard riders and the wrong people and wrong bikes on a trial day could wreck our opportunity for ever! we are still having to make modifications to our bikes to be allowed at a trial day. i ride pocket bikes as well and have to educate the owners of the track as to what the bikes are and how they can fit in with their track. They want to know things like the speed differentiation of the different bikes that maybe out on the track at the same time.
can you see where im coming from? if i go about this the wrong way we will all loose the opportunity of this track for every until owners at some point change. they are not concerned with the amount of numbers that turn up but if i leave the door open at the start to any tom, **** and harry a few hacks might turn up and crash 4 times per session which i can tell you puts these owners off.
I can hammer a motard, but am not that great on a pocket bike. eventually i will need to gain assistance from the pocket bike community to gather a handful of 'professional' pocket bike riders that could represent the category the best and show the owners that they are not a liability to the club.
Thanks Bill and im sure you guys will be able to assist with some resources when the time is right. but this cannot be rushed and must be done in the right way. Im not the enemy.
