2009 Australian Tittles Should There be Weight Class's ?

Hi Guys & girls, there has been a lot of talk regarding weight & how weight affect's minimoto bikes, i thought i would post up a poll to get a gauge of other's think on this.
I will be putting the idea forward to the organisers of the 2009 Australian Tittles that they introduce weight class's into some if not all class's.
The 1st Australian Tittles had weight class's & ran successfully, the races could be either run seperatly or a combined grid.
I think by doing this that the grids would grow as there are plenty of guys who are of the avarage weight of around 75 kgs to 80 kgs
Also the weight would be taken with all riding gear on.

I think this is a very good idea, although it is a good idea to combine grid everyone...

Because when i was in juniors i was by far the biggest junior, and it was much harder for me to keep with Dylan Jewell the 9 year old...It makes it a lot easier on the heavier riders...

If you combine grid, one there will be more ppl on the grid which is a lot more fun, and it still gives the heavier riders the chance to compete with everyone else and see how they go (but being pointed differently)

just my oppinion

like what ktm is saying is true for now,but as this sport grows with enough riders then you can split riders up into weight divisions etc.A few weeks back i was in Italy and there were close to 200 riders and of course weight and HP was all catergorized. To watch 30 plus riders on the grid was FANTASTIC,it looked like a freight train. As we all know the Europeans take this SPORT VERY SERIOUSLY!!!!

I think it would make the sport a more equal playing field ..but as Danny has said
our classes at the national level don't have enough riders to support this idea.
At this stage of how our sport is developing I appreciate any racing we can get that we all can call a true National Championship which we have had so far largely due to the efforts of Darren from Ozminimoto and the various clubs, track owners and volunteers."Big thanks to all concerned "
Regarding the rules for the next years titles, I personally think that it would unfair to throw them open to all to change on a forum and this should be left to the organizers of the events, the appropriate clubs and governing bodies.

If we had more people yeh.
But then if you like me are at the heavier end of the scale there would be mor incentive to travel and do the all the rounds if you did have more chance of being up the pointy end of your class.
On the flip side its a good excuse to drop some weight.(cheap performance mod there Cut down on the macker's=more money on the bike)
Cheers and no up sizing for me from now on LOL

i am only putting the idea forward as i think it would encourage more to race & to travel, i think for anybody over 60 to 65 kg's whats the use of competing on a serious level because if guys like con skinner turn up then just to name a few then what chance do you have of winning ? NONE
like i said both class's cold be on the same grid just scored for points separately

its not all about winning.pocket bike racing is a hobby and a sport that should be enjoyed by all. if there are people that are better racers than you, all that means is that you need to get to the track more, which benefits the rider and the sport.

the sport still has a long way to go in australia. i think we need more dealers. if we had seperate dealers that specialized in bikes like polini and bms the sport could grow much more because there would be more dealers supporting it and the awareness would be much higher.

once the sport is big enough i reckon weight classes would be a great idea, but until then we will have to make do with what we have

Although i am an over 75 kg rider who also would have it easier in a heavy weight class , I wouldn't want to see weight classes until we have much higher entry numbers to contend with . Also i would rather be in an open class as we have now to be able to race with the lighter & faster guys at what is truly the top level we have .
