its not specifically a methanol carby, the only thing really that makes it different from the others is the primer bulb .. i got one of these off a whipper snipper with a primer bulb and stuck it in methanol for a while to see what would happen ... after a few hrs the primer bulb was starting to break down and eventually split etc .... all the other gaskets and parts were fine, hense why i got the 257 as it didn't have the primer bulb.

Actually I think I do recall now. The primer bulb isn't the only difference between the petrol and alcohol carbs. The alcohol versions I am pretty confident also run a metering diaphragm made of a different alcohol safe material. The main membrane for the fuel pump and one way valves in the fuel pump side of the carb is probably the same deal also.

The alcohol diaphragm has a yellow woven tinge to it if I'm not mistaken.
